About Treepot Media

Treepot Media is a production company based in Ottawa, Canada, focused on producing and collaborating on feature films, documentaries, short films, music, event and promotional videos. Founded by award-winning filmmaker Jith Paul in 2010 the company has enjoyed critical and audience success through Treepot.tv, a collaborative indie music channel (nominee, Canada’s Best Music Website,CBCRadio 3 Spotlight contest, 2011,) the Treepot Film Festival at theatres and outdoor venues in Ottawa and as a founding partner of IndieKoala, an artist-run on-demand service for indie films.

Our recent short film Algebra was an award winner at the Digi60 Filmmaker’s Festival and went on to screen at festivals in Toronto, Scotland, Italy, India and Cannes. A few other collaborations Polar Bear Love, Moments and Perfect have all been finalists in CBC’s Short Film Face-off. Several other short films and collaborations have received recognition and awards at festivals around the world.

Documentary story-telling is something we are passionate about. Partners for Peace, a feature-length documentary collaboration between Treepot Media, Kublacom Pictures and the Nobel Women’s Initiative follows a delegation of American and Canadian women on a journey to Israel and Palestine. It was the opening film at the 2013 One World Film Festival. North Boys, a documentary collaboration with filmmakers Lucy van Oldenbarneveld and Laura Cabott about two men who survived the residential school system won of the Founder’s award at the Yorkton Film Festival in 2012. This is My Witness, a collaboration with Kublacom Pictures about the first citizen’s Tribunal on crimes against women in Burma premiered at the Paley Centre in New York, won an Award of Merit at the La Jolla, California based Best Shorts competition in 2011.

About Treepot Media

Five short films about people and their connection to Ottawa’s neighbourhoods, commissioned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and produced by Treepot Media made its broadcast premiere as CBC Ottawa Presents: Neighbourhood Stories in July 2011.

Treepot Media is a key collaborator of Ottawa Canadian Film Festival, a cultural, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to recognize, promote and celebrate the art of cinema by showcasing independent Ottawa, Canadian and international films and filmmakers. This work is a continuation of the work we started with the Treepot Film Festival screenings of curated films at movie theatres, auditoriums and parks.

Our latest projects include Drum with Us, an advocacy video for ACTRA National’s Diversity Committee and the short films Jasmin et Macarons, a conversation between a woman and her two friends over afternoon tea and Before Me, a film that explores social intolerance and its impact on children.
